Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question keyboard configuration

Hi all,

using Mandrake 9.0 on my lap-top with an external keyboard attached through the PS/2 slot. I have an M$ ergo-keyboard.

I usually start with caps-lock off, and I use the number pad to navigate. In Windoze world, I can use "shift" plus the number-pad arrows to highlight text. When I do it in Linux/KDE, I get actual numbers, as if the number lock were on.

The shift + regular arrow keys highlights text just fine. And if I have the number lock ON, and then shift + number lock arrows, I get highlighted text.

How can I change this behavior?

Thanks.
Matt.
