Kensington Trackball Orbit Elite

Hi

I bought a Kensington Orbit Trackball, but how do I get it to work properly on Linux? I used the PS/2 convertor and plugged him in, but the cursor went mad (it was always going to the bottom right corner).

It doesn't matter if it's with PS/2 or USB, I just want it to work. I did try to find some help on the web, but I got no good results.

I'm using Slackware 10.0 (with X.org, not XFree).

Thanks in advance!

if it's failing in Xwindows then open up /etc/X11/XF86Config (just noticed you mentioned X.org, I think the filename is xorg.conf but it should still be in the /etc/X11 directory" with your favorite text editor and find the Section "InputDevice" for your mouse that should have a line like:

Option "Protocol" "PS/2"

And try changing the PS/2 part to any one of these
Auto, IMPS/2 or PS/2. Also, the file may still have a comment listing all the protocols to try, you can either try all of them until one works or try to find documentation from Kensington on which protocol your mouse uses to set in Linux.

Thank you for your reply.

I'll try it when I get home.
