I've gotten k3b working to write cds on my rh9 laptop, but theres a problem with the speed, the writer is rated at 24x, and I tell k3b to write my audio cd at 24x (with auto mode, I haven't tried rao, tao, or raw) but the cd always writes at about 3 to 5x occasionally spiking to 12x or so for a few seconds, has anyone else had that problem? what do you think I should do?

i think you're having trouble with dma mode, and your drive has
that burnproof stuff. if the speed wasn't jumping, you would be getting
coasters.
