Question IT8212 / IT821x IDE raid controller - kernel module for 2.6.18

I am running FC6 and have an ITE8212F ide raid controller with two disks attached to it.

I found out I need the it821x module to support this controller -- and with this to get UDMA support for my two drives. Now they work, but way too slow; about 1.8MB/s!!

OK, it seems that the kernel versions newer than 2.6.10 do not directly support the IT8212 chip ide raid controllers!?

There also seems to be a patch for the kernel sources by Alan Cox. But does anyone know a way to only compile this one module?

That is: is there a linux driver for the ITE8212 ide card that is supported by the kernel version 2.6.18 (as e.g. shipped with FC6)?
