Istalling Red Hat 9 on a SATA drive
I'm trying to install RedHat 9 on a SATA HD (a seagate barracuda) but the installer won't pick up the drive! it says that there seems to be no hd present...how can I get linux to pick up this drive? i've been looking all over for drivers, kernel patches, anything but have come up with jack...any suggestions??

I dont know how much this info will help, as im also struggling with the same problem,
for the same issue in win xp, we slipstream the sata driver in xp with nlite software, in the same way we have to add the compatible sata driver for linux, into linux so that it can detect the hdd.
and how to do that that is also the prob (kernel compilation, or by using 3rd party software)
If ull get the solution then do let me know....

Oh Bad form, you managed to drag up a post that is 6 Years old, about an OS that is no longer supported.. While admirable you want to help, I would hope most people are no longer running Redhat 9. There have been 10 new versions of the community based redhat OS since 2003...
