I'm going to build a home theater PC, hopefully based on Fedora and
MythTV . I want to make sure my hardware is Linux compatible (Fedora core 2 -- May 7!) up to the task (TV recording and playback, pausing live TV, music server, remote control, cd/dvd burning, other basic desktop computer work), and that the hardware should in principle all work together!
Motherboard:
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (Nforce2 Ultra 400, AMD, SATA)
Processor:
Athlon XP 3000+ (400 MHz FSB)
Memory:
Crucial 512 MB (PC3200)
Video Card:
Aopen GeForce4 MX-440 (64 MB, 8X, TV-out)
Audio: on the motherboard, Realtek ALC 650 6 channel AC'97 codec SPDIF in/out interface
Hard Drive:
Seagate 160GB SATA (7200 RPM)
TV Capture Card:
Hauppauge PVR 350 (TV/FM in, S-video in & out, composite video out, remote control, hardware MPEG encode & decode)
Case:
Enermax, 350 W (standard ATX case, seems nice)
Optical Drive:
Lite-on DVD+-RW (8X DVD+-R, 4X DVD+-RW, 12X DVD-ROM, 40X CD-R)
and
Lite-on DVD-ROM (16X)
Any gotchas? Suggestions? I haven't built a computer in a long time, so there could be all sorts of silly things wrong.
