When I said '1GB/sec' I was using bytes, not bits (if I meant bits would have use Mbit in most cases, or Mb if I'm feeling really lazy). Which is probably a bit naughty in some ways, but I'll leave that.
A 1Gb network = bits, not bytes. Max possible bandwidth in bytes is 125MB/sec from a 1Gb network. Still norwhere near as fast as ancient PC133 SDRAM. Matter of fact, its even slower than EDO or fast page RAM....which hasn't been in common use with new computers since about 1997-1998.
