Is it possible to install a distro and mythtv on a dish network dvr?

A friend gave me his old dish network dvr and I was hoping I could hack it (Not to Steal Cable) But to record programs on it.

I know knopmyth is an excelent distro for this. Since it is a set top box, would any distro be able to operate it? Are there any sites or guides on this?

What is the hardware?

If Dish is anything like DirecTV, they offer/have offered more than 1 model. Can you figure out the real Mfr. & Mod. #?
