Is Epson Stylus Photo R2000 (C11CB35201) Linux compatible?

I didn't see it in the HCL so I'm wondering if anybody has this working. It looks like a good photo quality six color printer. Here it is on Newegg:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16828103577
Thanks.

According to this link, it works 'Perfectly'. It lists the driver you need.

Excellent. Rep added. I never heard of this site although I now have it bookmarked. I just looked in LinuxQuestions.org HCL like I always do for prospective new hardware. I don't have the printer yet, I wanted to find out if it's compatible first. What does the "RPM for LSB 3.2" mean? Specifically, for what do the initials "LSB" represent? Will this package conflict with other Fedora 16 packages? I didn't see anything on the site concerning "LSB". I have this printer in a Newegg wish list (saving my nickels and dimes). Thanks a million!

Here is a link for LSB ( Linux Standard Base ).

You would need cups installed. I have never seen a printer driver conflict with another package. Understand, I have no way of verifying that.

Just check the return policy before you buy the printer, just in case there is some insurmountable problem.

I had a read of the wikipedia page to which you referred pertaining to LSB. The part that stands out involves printing. To quote a paragraph from said page:

"The LSB specifies for example: standard libraries, a number of commands and utilities that extend the POSIX standard, the layout of the file system hierarchy, run levels, the printing system, including spoolers such as CUPS and tools like Foomatic and several extensions to the X Window System."

I do indeed have CUPS installed and Newegg has a nice 30 day return policy and a good reputation. I've bought many things from Newegg over the last few years with no problems. The printer will be purchased along with an Asus motherboard with Intel socket 2011. Fedora will be the OS and of course CUPS will be installed. My wife and I love photos and I own a nice old Canon T70 film camera. I have the negatives developed for $3.96 at Walmart in one hour, bring them home and use an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner that scans negatives. I scan the negatives at high resolution in case I want big pictures later. I want the Epson R2000 for lab quality prints. Thanks again for the very informative replies.
