is all-in-one computer(non-apple) advisable for linux ?

Is it advisable to buy all-in-one pc whose features looks similar to a laptop?does it give same trouble as the laptop when linux is installed?

i have debian lenny running on dell laptop with intel core i3 processor after one week of trouble installing the graphics driver.
for installing the graphics driver i upgraded the kernel, upgraded many xserver packages, updated udev package and finally installed the graphics driver. on rebooting the system graphics worked good but webcam, cdrom, card reader all stopped working.

similar situation happened with core i5 desktop but sorted it out by putting a cheap nvidia graphics card

Any machine where you can't easily change the hardware is logically a bigger support risk than one where you have control over the components.

Hi,

The opening question can be answered in several ways. Look at 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way' would be one link you should look at to help us to help you in the future.

We will aid you when you help yourself to a solution. Provide us with what you have attempted and then maybe someone will be able to assist. General statements or questions are very difficult to associate thus unable to form a good answer.

Hardware configuration is a stumbling block for any OS, add in a new user and things become cumbersome. So composition of the query should be complete and comprehensive.

Ravi

Please calm down !

It is really necessary to read that tutorial pointed out by Onebuck.
If the question is not asked properly, it will be ignored by the knowledgeable people around this international forum and you will be at loss.

Read it! It will enlighten you as how to form a better query that would have direction and understanding.

I don't elevate myself nor think by directing you somewhere that will help or enable you to better yourself by forming good understandable queries belittles nor places me above you.

So, don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff!
