IRQ conflict when external drive/flash-drive is put to use

-----------------Wooops; I just realized I had already posted the exact same thread earlier here at LQ, if a mod wants to erase this post, please go ahead (if someone has an answer anyway, I'd be greatful though, since my problem wasn't resolved earler. Thanks and sorry for the mistake................

I have a built in 7-in-1 mem-card reader, with an SD-card, working beautifully. I also have a firewire external HDD, working like a charm. If I enter my USB-stick or use the USB-port for the external HDD, they won't get detected. I get the following message (dmesg):

Code:

[<c0107742>] __report_bad_irq+0x22/0x80
 [<c0107810>] note_interrupt+0x50/0x80

Now, if I restart my computer with the USB-stick in the USB-drive. It gets detected. Everything has worked earlier though with kernel 2.6.6 (I'm using 2.6.8.1 now). Obviously there's some IRQ conflicts here, but are there any solutions?

I'm using a custom kernel (2.6.8.1-kanotix-10), and have posted this at the kanotix-forum as well, where I was suggested to upgrade the kernel; which I did, but it didn't help.

Thanks.
