Irda on Toshiba Satellite2435 with Debian

Hi, I am browsing the internet for few days already(maybe more than a week), but I was not succesful in finding something what could help me with my irda. I don't know how to get it working, mostly because I am not sure which software would be the best one and how should I set it up. So if somebody went thorough this process already, please give me some advices. I am running 2.6.0 with debian patches.

If I remember correctly I did find an answer, but I do not remember what it was. I am guessing just some setting in kernel. I had to stop using linux because of lack of time, and also because of the fact that applications which I had to use very windows only:-(. Hopefuly I will get back to it after I will done with studies.
