Hello,
I attempted to use an IrDA dongle (KingSun KS-959) for interfacing
with a diving computer "Galileo sol". I'm running FC-14,
kernel: 2.6.35.11-83.hpfs.fc14.x86_64
When I connected the dongle to the USB port ("Galileo" is OFF),
the last lines of "dmesg" were:
Code:
[50382.526020] hub 6-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
[50383.012015] usb 6-1: new low speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4
[50383.161089] usb 6-1: New USB device found, idVendor=07d0, idProduct=4959
[50383.161093] usb 6-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[50383.161097] usb 6-1: Product: USB to IRDA
[50383.161099] usb 6-1: Manufacturer: Kingsun CO.
[50383.164141] KingSun KS-959 IRDA/USB found at address 4, Vendor: 7d0, Product: 4959
[50383.164313] net irda0: IrDA: Registered KingSun KS-959 device irda0
I expected that a device /dev/irda0 will be created but it didn't:
Code:
<root localhost>.../temp>ls /dev/irda0
ls: cannot access /dev/irda0: No such file or directory
Should I expect the device file /dev/irda0 to be created if
everything works as it should? Of corse, there was no
communication with the "Galileo". Here's some info which I
don't know if helps or not:
Code:
<root localhost>.../temp>rpm -qa | grep irda
irda-utils-0.9.18-10.fc12.x86_64
<root localhost>.../temp>+ /etc/sysconfig/irda

<root localhost>.../temp>ls /dev/ttyS2
