Hi all...

I just loaded PCLinuxOS on my laptop to try out. The laptop originally had the bcm4306 wireless card installed, but I swapped it for an Intel 2200 for compatibility's sake. I had heard that the Intel had a problem with dropping connections under 802.11G because of the card's power settings, which supposedly can be edited under Windows or Mac OS.

I've had the card installed for a couple of hours and I've already had a couple of dropped connections. Seeing as how I'm not familiar with this distro or KDE, I'd like a little guidance.

Can the power be bumped up in this distro, and/or can it be locked down to use 802.11b only? (B is still faster than the internet connection, and I'm not doing any real networking)

I don't remember at all, but I think that mode and power management on ipw2200 is done with iwpriv command. Try out a little bit.
