Ipod frustration.

I've been trying to mount my ipod. I'm some what of a noob, and I tried everything I know.
Ok. So I plug it in. I'm using USB. It's already formated to windows BTW. Under /proc/scsi/scsi, it says that it's SCSI1. So, I try to mount it as
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /media/ipod
It just gives me "Cannot read superblock. Doesn 't work. I try
mount -t vfat /dev/sda2 /media/ipod
mount -t vfat /dev/sda /media/ipod
and much more. Nothing. I've tryied the same using "sdb". Nothing. My system knows it's there, but it wont read it. I'm using usb 1.1. Is that the problem? Or am I an idiot?

When you plug it in, type 'dmesg | tail' in a console and post the output here.
