Ipod cannot read songs added to it from rhythmbox

I have the fourth generation ipod nano, the newer one. I added some songs to it in rhythmbox and ejected it, but the ipod says there are 0 songs on it. I plug it back in to the computer and it shows the songs are on it. Itunes on windows will not read the songs and tells me to restore the ipod because it cant read it. Does anybody have a solution? I realize this is more of an ipod question but it works fine with windows, this problem only exists on linux. if it helps im running mepis linux (a debian distro) with the latest updates. I have also tried the other apps (gtkpod and amarok) and have a simmilar problem.... thanks

i am having the same problem with the new 160gb iPod video, but none of those programs, except rythmbox, will even acknowledge that its plugged in. i usually have to hand mount it, and then im only able to play songs off of it using rythmbox, gtkpod sees the music but gives me errors about adding the music, or playing the songs. is the iPod just too new, or is there a size limit to the programs?
