Intermittent problems with ICH8 audio on Inspiron 1420n

I have an Inspiron 1420n running Fedora 7. It has an Intel ICH8 onboard audio chipset, which uses the snd_hda_intel driver. Sometimes when the machine boots, or when it comes out of hibernate, audio won't play, and I have to remove the snd_hda_intel module and reinsert it. That always resolves the problem, but I would like to fix the problem rather than just curing the symptoms every time.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Regards
David
