Intellimouse thumb/side buttons stopped working

Hi I've been using Mandriva LE 2005 for about a year.

I recently upgraded to Mandriva 2006. There are a number of bugs that I still haven't fixed since the upgrade and this is one of them. I'm pretty certain it worked after the upgrade but something has happened since. The buttons do work in XP and worked for a whole year in Mandriva LE 2005 so it's not the actual mouse.

My xorg.conf file is the same as it always was:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Buttons" "7"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "6 7"

I never used xmodmap or imwheel in my last installation and all the posts I see about this are for XF86 and not for xorg.conf. How can this not be working? I've tried changing ZAxisMappingt to 4 5 and of course that messes up the scroll wheel and makes the wheel do the back and forward buttons.

Any ideas?

Ok 6 months later and I've got the answer I'm using Mandriva 2007 now too :-)
I wasn't trying for 6 months though :-P

I found it here http://ccux-linux.de/forums/archive/...hp/t-3567.html

If the above link isn't working then here is what the fix was:

xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 8 9 4 5 6 7 10 11"

Put the above line in a startup script for X11.
I put my script in /etc/X11/xinit.d/
