IntelliMouse Battery Indicator

I am looking for a way to check the battery status of my wireless IntelliMouse. I saw that this was asked almost 2 years ago on these forums in thread ID 32740 (I'm a newbie and can't post URLs yet) but didn't receive any replies. Also a Googling didn't turn up anything either. Has anyone heard of such an app?
