Intel Wireless cards on Blag 5k

I got a sony vaio 760w and it comes with a built in intel wireless pro/2000g and well the connection manager does recognize the card but not as a wireless but as wired. When i tried to load it after configuring it says that card is not present. Has anyone had this problem before? I tried to set it up as a wireless card but its not recognized. Only as wired. See if anyone can help me out. Thanks...

can you post the output of ifconfig and iwconfig please?

ipw2200device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization. thats the error it gives me. I loaded up the firm ware that it was required and tried to restart the driver but it tells me the same thing i dont know what im doing wrong
