Question Intel ICH8M SATA AHCI Controller

I've just upgraded to the 2.6.24 kernel. What needs to be built in to the kernel to get this drive controller to work? I think I'm missing something in either the SCSI or IDE drivers. As always, any help is greatly appreciated. ~~ Thanks

Try the setting below.

Code:
grep -i ahci /boot/config-2.6.24
CONFIG_SATA_AHCI=y
Code:
grep -i ich8 /usr/src/linux-2.6.24/drivers/ata/ahci.c
        { PCI_VDEVICE(INTEL, 0x2821), board_ahci }, /* ICH8 */
        { PCI_VDEVICE(INTEL, 0x2822), board_ahci }, /* ICH8 */
        { PCI_VDEVICE(INTEL, 0x2824), board_ahci }, /* ICH8 */
        { PCI_VDEVICE(INTEL, 0x2829), board_ahci }, /* ICH8M */
        { PCI_VDEVICE(INTEL, 0x282a), board_ahci }, /* ICH8M */

That is where my config file is stored on Debian once installed if you want/need then you can find yours in your configured kernel source tree, which does not really matter anyways you need to select it during the configuration process when building your kernel. Also you may want to edit your profile so people know what distribution/version used of it you are using or at least mention it when asking questions.

Code:
grep -i ahci /usr/src/linux-2.6.24/.config
CONFIG_SATA_AHCI=y
