Intel HD Audio no sound problem

I have a lenovo 300 c200 laptop and it has a Intel HD audio chip inside. Now the problem is I cannot get the sound to work. In Opensuse 10.2 the sound didnt work and it does not in Debian Etch either.

The only solution I have found is to use the acpi=ht
argument when selecting the kernel to boot. If I choose this then sound works. However it disables acpi, so I cannot view the cpu temperature or battery status etc which obviously I want when running a laptop.

What cna I do to enable sound, but still have acpi functioning so I can view all of the acpi details e.g. battery etc?

I am at a complete loss as what to do.

Thanks in advance

Michael.

Running that command gives the following.

Code:
Codec: Realtek ID 862
Address: 0
Vendor Id: 0x10ec0862
Subsystem Id: 0x17aa8e2d
Revision Id: 0x100001
aplay -l gives:

Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: HDA Generic [HDA Generic]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

lspci -v gives:

Code:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
        Subsystem: Lenovo Unknown device 3802
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 50
        Memory at d0340000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Capabilities: <access denied>
I have just noticed that the headphone socket works, although it is very low. But when I used the boot parametre I gave sound comes out loud and clear through the speakers.
