extract the archive somewhere
locate the file called "install.sh" and make it executable
./install.sh

Quote:
# This is the DRI installation script. It compiles the kernel modules
# and installs the kernel, DRI and libGL modules.
... comment at the top of the install.sh script.

I am a wee bit bothered by the "drm" stuff but I'm too tired to puzzle it out.
I suppose the i810 driver doesn't do it for you?

Still no luck

Thanks for your reply Simon, but still no luck with the installation.

This is the error message i got.

Compiling new agpgart module...

ERROR: AGPGART module did not compile

Compiling DRM module...

ERROR: Kernel modules did not compile

The DRI drivers can not be installed without the latest kernel modules.
Installation will be aborted. See the dri.log file for information on
what went wrong.

[root@ninnie dripkg]# cat dri.log
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2257.fc5/build SUBDIRS=/root/dripkg/agpgart-2.0 modules
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2257.fc5/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [default] Error 2
Makefile.linux:151: *** Cannot find a kernel config file. Stop.

-----
its telling me to update to the latest kernel which i did, using yum update. Currently on kernel 2.6.18-1.2257.fc5.

Plus i m using the default i810 driver. Which does not do it for me. I have google the net. but no real answer to this problem that i m having. if you have any ideas please share. i m frustrated with the resolution that i m on. resolution 1280x1024 only support 256 colours. which is quiet annoying if you know what i mean.

Thanks

Well, you do need the kernel headers, maybe even the source, installed.
I take it you are using FC5?
Take a look at the FC5 install notes in www.mjmwired.com - it will help you with installing the headers and kernel source. However, I am surpried the intel driver doesn't have an rpm in a yum repo. (yum install intel? - try yumex and look)

I note that the driver you want is supplied in the FC6 distribution.

The i810 driver is restricted to resolutions etc in BIOS - check BIOS settings for graphics.
