intel 845 and Viewsonic A90f+ cannot get a good resolution

Hey guys

I just installed Fedora Core 4 on my machine whicb has a Intel 845 graphics chipset and a Viewsonic A90f+ monitor.

When I goto set the display settings using system-config-display or using the the GUI uitlity to set the display, I do not get the option of selecting Thousands of Colors when I try to select the resolution as say 1024X768 atleast. Only at 640x480 do I get that option.

I have seen many reviews in which people using intel 845 chipsets have resolutions of upto 1600x+

I have installed the intel 845 driver for linux found at the intel website.

Can anybody suggest me a way round this so that I can get a better resolution and a color scheme?

thanks
ashay

here is what my xorg.conf says

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
ModelName "ViewSonic A90f+"
DisplaySize 360 270
HorizSync 30.0 - 86.0
VertRefresh 50.0 - 150.0
Option "dpms"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "i810"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "Intel 845"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 8
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 16
Modes "640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 8
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
EndSection

Now, I tried to change the Depth to 16 in the Second SubSection Display, but it still doesnt work. I am guessing if it has to do wth the display size and horzSync of the monitor?
