Intel 2915ABG Wireless card on Slackware 10.2 (Kernel compile)

I just built a Z71V Asus laptop a week or so ago I have been busy and haven't fully installed linux yet. I was reading the files for this card and it says "- Support is provided only when used with kernels 2.6.8 or greater" I have 2.4.31. I was looking threw the kernels and forgot what the numbers meant. I am guessing the second number if even is stable. Then what does the last number mean? Is there any sites that you could recommend that would help me with a compile or patch?
