Intalling printer

This may be simple, but I'm extremely green and new to all this. I cannot successfully install my Samsung ML-4500 as the local printer on a RedHat 7.2 installation. I've used the RedHat printconfig utility, and the driver supplied is one that "works perfectly" acording to both Samsung and RedHat, but after installing it the Test fails, and the printer does not appear in the list of printers available (only Generic postscript and fax drivers available). Am I missing something obvious? Should I give up and let Bill Gates wipe my ass for me?

Hold my hand and tell me it will be OK.:smash: :newbie:

What printing software are you using?

Printing software? I was just trying to use one of the bundled word processor applications. Is there more to it than that?

Have a look to see if you have cups installed, if so it has instructions in the docs on how to set up a printer.
