You'll have to make it "executable" first after downloading. This has to do with the way Linux file permissions work. in a terminal, do
Code:
chmod +x /home/kc/Desktop/ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run
You can highlight the text code on the forum and paste it in a terminal by clicking the middle mouse button (wheel).

By the way, you might find these docs useful:

Oh, I'm very sorry, I made a typo ! it should've been
Code:
chmod +x /home/kc/Desktop/ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run
(Without a space between the '+' and the 'x')

Ok i tried it without the space and nothin seems to be hapening.
Also i took a look at the first link you gave me and was going through the steps for that one, then i ran into this step typed it in and i get this

kc@gamer:~$ bash ./ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/edgy
bash: ./ati-driver-installer-8.28.8.run: No such file or directory

Wondering if you knew what the problem was, thanks

If it works as expected it will not give any message. It'll only tell you if something is going wrong.

for './some_executable' to work 'some_executable' must be in the directory you're working in. '.' is the directory you're in. For instance, "cd ." will 'change' to the directory you're already in (can't think of a more useful example now ).

I do not have any experience installing an ATI card nor am I running Ubuntu, so I sure hope somebody with both these things will jump in and rescue you.. Good luck!
