Installing Scanner with SuSE 9
Hi Guys
I was given a scanner for Christmas, and despite it being on the SuSE 9 list of supported hardware it just will not work. I use SuSE because I am fairly dyslexic( this is written in Open Office so I can use the spell checker) so I have trouble using the command line, and KDE is very newbie friendly, so please when replying to my post, remember that I have a problem using command line instructions. To try to install my scanner I opened yast clicked on hardware /scanners, then chose my scanner from the list, clicked accept, then tried to test the scanner, then a message box popped up saying that I need to install a firmware update. After searching the Internet using Google, I found what I hope is correct update at the sane website, I downloaded the update, and installed as directed in the man pages, and the scanner still won't work; I am completly stuck. My scanner is a Packard Bell Diamond 1200 plus, and any suggestions would be very very welcome. Jim |
