installing rh9 over network, nforce2
HI,
I want to install RedHat 9 from a ftp server on the net. I have a Epox nforce2 8rda3+ motherboard. It has two ethernet cards onboard, a nforce2 and a realtek.
What I've done so far (a month ago it was tho):
I made two floppys. The bootdisk.img and the drvnet.img with networkcard modules. The installation was not able to detect any network card on my PC. I didn't find any nforce2 modules in the list (drvnet.img). But none of the realtek modules were good enough for the installation either. It just said, that there is no realtek card present.
I did search the web (LQ including), but found only suggestions how to get eth working on an already installed rh9 system. That didn't help me much. Someone suggested force loading the realtek module and that was supposed to make the card work. How do you force load a module in the installation?
I installed Suse 8.2 over the network. Suse didn't have problems detecting the realtek nor the nforce2 card. But suse doesn't fit me anyway.
Someone mentioned in a forum, that RH8 didn't support nor the nforce2 sound, nor the eth cards. RH9 supports now the sound, but nothing changed to eth support.
I don't have a CD writer, that's why my prefered choice of installation is over the internet.
Thankful for any help.
