i have searched and found no threads containing anything about trustix... it was about the only distro that would install successfully on my dell poweredge 4200 w/o freezing up halfway through the install or not even loading the install program to begin... anyways, so trustix i am, right?
no gui <eg> just cmd line all the way....i kind of like it though..messing around in the config files vs. clicking around and making changes on X menus....i learn more messing around in the text config files...
my question is how to install an hp 3320 usb printer in trustix? hp, to my knowledge and from what i've searched, does not produce a driver... moreover, i do not know how to install a printer from cmd line, for i have googled for installing printers on trustix and came up w/ nadda... any help at all will be greatly appreciated and thx in advance!!
thx for the info.. i have d/'ed the .ppd file for the printer that i have and will try it very soon! thx again! i do have one question for you, and anyone else who would like to chime in.... since i cannot run rh (my fave distro of all) on the poweredge...as far as X driven distro's are concerned, should i give gentoo a look-see or just stick with trustix? i obviously know what your answer is going to be, but here's why i ask.... trustix = all cmd line, no X screens (good for learning) on other hand, per say, gentoo = X screens and cmd line (good for learning) and by having an X display installed I can atleast surf the net on it, as with trustix all i have is lynx :P anyways, i may try it out no matter what.. i have tried a few others, except gentoo, like rh, debian, freebsd (omg!), lycoris, slackware & mandrake (v 10.1 which will run on my poweredge but for some reason i couldn't get the server packages to install right...could never find dhcpd, apache and so on, even though i thought i had it selected at install menu....anyways i may give it a whirl tonight and see how it treats the pe 4200.. i'll let ya know if interested...again, thx for your help!
