Installing Motorola SM56 Modem!!

Hi. Im installing a Motorola SM56 modem in Red Hat 8.0. When i started the PC linux detected the modem ok. But when im trying to configure an internet connection it says that the "no modems where detected". I ve downloaded the driver SM56_5.1_I386.rpm for Red Hat 8.0 and when I try tu install de RPM i get this:

[root@Linux motorola]# rpm -Uvh SM56_5.1_I386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
gcc is needed by sm56-5.1.1-1

What am i doing wrong!!

Try reading the manual of your package to check what kind of Kernel Version the package you downloaded support. I'm also having the same problem but not with the installation of the package but with the detection.

What are you doing wrong? Install gcc and all its deps first - the packages on your installation CD-ROM's

Now I´m having the same problem than den_santiago, the rpm´s are installed but whrn i try to configure the ppp connection it doesn´t detect my modem.

Any hint ????
