Installing ALSA modules


ive got alsa compiled with portage and im wondering who to i load the kernel modeiles
ive look in /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/sound/ and found lots of sound modules but wich one do i load?
ive tryed loading the snd-vio82xx coz thats the one ofr my sound card but whenever it boots it say 'cannot load snd-vio82xx'

Is there another module that may have an exact chipset match ie: no x's in the module name. Also what card is this?

my sound card is
Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 64)

and hte alsa soundcard matrix says use snd-vio82xx

ive been working my way through the gentoo alsa guide

but i dont seem to have modules-update andwhere on my pc

ah dont worry i just copyed all the contense from /etc/moudles.d/alsa to /etc/modules.autoload

and it works now

for all new linux users wanting to set up alsa read the gentoo documentation its very good
