Red face installing alsa (ac'97


PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE Help me

i dont have a clue how to install the alsa drivers for my ac'97 soundcard

i dont have a clue where to put the files i have downloaded or any thing

can any on help

i am a total !

Would you please tell me how you solved your problem?
I have AC'97 also and cannot produce any sound at all.

i just managed to fix my soundcard that used the ac97 codec as well. my problem happened to be that the soundcard wasn't getting an irq number.

check #dmesg to see if its saying anything. also maybe check #lsmod to see what modules you have and #lspci to see any information on your card


also i was under the impressoin that all newer kernels already had the ac97 mods in them?
