Installation hangs for FC4

Hi All,
I have bought a new computer with following details:
-Intel Pentium D processor 3.4 GHz

I have installed Win XP on it successfully, but when I try to install Fedora Core 4 on it, installation hangs at
..
..
Probing PCI hardware bus 00

Please provide me the help for this problem. Is there any problem with the hardware or the software

I would move up to FC5 or FC6 first. Boot up with one of those Live CD like Knoppix or Kunbuntu. See if it boots up. If it does then it should work but require some custom options on boot.

You can try the FC4 disc using the command ' linux noprobe ' as the boot option. See if that helps.

It is quite common that an older distro like FC4 could fail to match your display with the correct video driver during an installation and the line of communication is broken with the user. Pretty harmless I would say. If the distro manages to install itself it is quick easy to select another driver.

In your case as the installation isn't complete and FC6 is now available I therefore second Brian1 proposal to try another distro.
