Install Ubuntu7.04 or Fedora C6 fails... what can i do?
Hello, when i boot into Ubuntu live cd (it runs slow) i do everything but during install i only get to 15% (detecting filesystem or something like that) and it dies. With fedora core 6 i install everything, but installing bootloader never finishes, i have formatted the drive with gparted, and set up partition table during install. I go hda1 20gb as "/" then 20gb as "/home" then 1gb as swap and the rest of the 60gb hdd for a later server installation. The computer has a 1.3ghz Amd Athlon, 256 mb Ram and a 60gb HDD. I know the stats are low, but it is a backup PC. All help is appreciated.
Hmm, so if you try to boot after doing the Fedora install, is there any error messages?
That harddrive, what sort if interface is it? Is it a SATA-RAID or just normal IDE? Are you trying to make this one dual boot, or is it only for Linux?
Might be an idea to forget a later server installation partition. You can always add the server software you want later to the normal installation and maybe running it without the X GUI when it is used purely as a server. That way you can leave the partitioning to the install program.
Well i got ubuntu on that computer, and now i don't have it (i lent it to some friends - their comp has hardware failure) so when i get it back.... thanks tho + yes it is IDE, thankyou
