How did you install the kernel source ?

also the nvidia.run ( from the nvidia web site ) needs gcc and auto tools installed
on rhel/centos 6 ( from the el6)
Code:
su -
yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
yum install kernel-devel

Again, you need to INSTALL the kernel source. Did you install it, as was suggested, using the yum commands given??

again
did you use yum to install the kernel source for the CURRENT running kernel ?
and that extra line in the driver install is not needed

seeing as you NEED to be root to install the driver and have xorg turned off
i normally place the driver in "/"

also as per the instructions
for rhel/centos 6 you also need to blacklist nouveau and rebuild the boot image

you are after all REPLACING one driver with a different one

Code:
su -
mv /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r)-nouveau.img
dracut /boot/initramfs-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r)
