Install Linux on Thinkpad 600E

I have an old IBM Thinkpad 600E having a Pentium 2 290MHz processor, 192MB RAM and 6GB HDD. I don't like windows. So I want to install Linux on it, preferably DSL. So can anyone please assist me? I use this machine to view movies and listen songs. So multimedia support is must. I don't know much about DSL. Coz it run as a live cd. Other good option are also requested.

Is there any way you can add more RAM? Getting it up to a minimum of 256Meg of RAM will give you much better performance and stability over 192Meg, and will also increase the number of potential distros you can try.

I used to own this exact laptop. I ran Arch Linux flawlessly on it for a long time. Its 686-Optimized and minimalistic, so it fits this older laptop well. This was a couple years ago though. Adding more RAM would really help you out as moxieman99 said.

Was Arch Linux good for multimedia? As I only use this laptop to watch movies and listen songs. Sometime to surf internet. And I will surely upgrade it to 256 Megs RAM.

Why not just fix the mouse problem? Post your xorg.conf file.
