You need to upgrade to XFree86 to 4.30 (released feb 28, 2003)
Try the following address for the documentation:
http://xfree86.org/4.3.0
and download the latest binaries for Linux at:
http://archive.progeny.com/XFree86/4.3.0/binaries and download all the binaries found in the directory Linux-ix86-glibc23
It fixed my video problems right away. I'm still trying to get my audio working though...
