Did you run Driver Manager to install the recommended driver for your card,
after the install?

Did you read https://linuxmint.com/rel_rosa_cinnamon.php for possible clues, tips, or suggestions?
Hello
I assume that Driver Manager refers to a repository app run in linux... but since the graphics produced by my MSI/Nvidia 128K card in Mint/Cin were unreadable didn't see a way to run Driver Manager or do anything at all... will reinstall Mint (compatibility mode) again on this old but good test mule pc and see if Terminal video is readable. If yes then will be in a position to perhaps install Nvidia Linux drivers for that card via Terminal. Will try again. Good suggestion.

If you like Mint then you'll like Debian. Debian stable is a good bit closer to supporting your legacy hardware than Mint is.

Start with trying Debian 8 stable and of that doesn't work, keep going back 1 version at a time.
