ide-scsi cd-rw problem w/ kern. 2.4.25

greetings

I'm having trouble getting my LG cd burner to work after putting in a new motherboard. The burner, which previously worked and was installed as /dev/hdb, is now /dev/hdc and allows only writing via cdrecord, but will not let me mount it :-(

Code:
#mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /cdrom

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0,
or too many mounted file systems
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
now, i have google'd around, and I've got everything in place: /dev/scd0 links to /dev/hdc and /dev/cdrom links to /dev/scd0.

this is my /etc/fstab (the relevant part, anyway)
Code:
/dev/scd0 /cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0
and my grub menu.lst file:

Code:
title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.4.25-1-386
root (hd0,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.25-1-386 root=/dev/hda2 ro hdc=ide-scsi
                options ide-cd ignore=hdc
                pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi
                initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.4.25-1-386
savedefault
boot
this is what dmesg gives me:

Code:
ide_setup: hdc=ide-scsi
    ide1: BM-DMA at 0xfc08-0xfc0f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:pio
hdc: HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4520B, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdc: attached ide-scsi driver.
ide-scsi: hdc: unsupported command in request queue (0)
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 64
ide-scsi: hdc: unsupported command in request queue (0)
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 64
ide-scsi: hdc: unsupported command in request queue (0)
end_request: I/O error, dev 16:00 (hdc), sector 64
I can't recall if the "end_request" lines showed up back when the thing worked. cdrecord -scanbus gives me the following

Code:
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.25
Using libscg version 'schily-0.8'.
scsibus0:
        0,0,0 0) 'HL-DT-ST' 'RW/DVD GCC-4520B' '1.00' Removable CD-ROM
        0,1,0 1) *
 (...)
and finally, my lsmod

Code:
a# lsmod
