I have a problem that sis actually more like a doubt. I've been using redhat 9 in my TP600 for about 6 months now, and there is one thing that has always bugged me, not only on this distro, but in any distro i've so far tried.
The thing is that if I press the eject button on the cd-rom drive BEFORE issuing the eject command the cd-rom locks up for good, and is only unlocked with a reboot
Is there any way to solve this ?

PS: My cd-rom is locked at this present moment, that is why i finally decided to post this question

What happens if you try to unmount the CD-ROM (umount /dev/cdrom)? I have a TP600E myself (typing on it, lovely machine!) and I have never come across that problem.

I am running Gnome and I had the same problem.
I solve it by uninstalling the automount features, and I now mount my drives by using right click on the desktop.
The windows shows what you have in Fstab file.
