IBM NetVista no boot order in BIOS

im trying to install suse on a NetVista 6578-RBU but the only boot order options in the BIOS is "Try logical drives first, then network" or "Try network only" or Try local drives only" and if it trys logical drives it will boot from the hard drive before the cd. This is is Intel Boot Agent Version 3.0.04. Is there any way i can get some distro installed on this box? Can I install a new boot agent somehow which will enable me to boot from cd? thanks in advance...

I have the same problem on my Grandma's old IBM. I'm trying to install Ubuntu and I've used Smart Boot Manager many times, but the Intel Boot Agent Version 3.0.04 can't even foot to a floppy :S. Any ideas BESIDES throwing the computer out the window?

One may have luck by trying Grub for Windows, according to this;

It turns out that, that IS NOT the BIOS. To get to the BIOS on my specific machine, you have you press F1 repeatedly, and then you can change the Boot Sequence.

Hope that helps someone else out too.

I cannot either get to the BIOS pressing any combination of buttons, but there IS a method to get to it. Whenever you change your system Hardware, i.e. add RAM memory, o take some out, you get an error message at the boot, process telling you to Save the new configuration. Once you get that message, continue the blue screen and that is your BIOS. I only tested this on IBM NetVista (Pentium III). It does work, its surely not the best solution but it works, once in the BIOS, you can configure nearly everything, including if you want your PC on at an specific periodic time... and of course manage Boot Options. Once you´ve done it. You can put all your Hardware as it was before and (if you saved your configuration, I hope that´s what you did)you´ll get again the error message and back again to the BIOS.

Hope this helps somebody, although it doesn´t use any Linux (or Windows) software ^^.
