I/O error while copying some data on to external HDD


i have a internal sata HDD in some casing, and i am using it as external HDD connected via USB.
Also the hdd connected via USB & draws power from via a AC source.

i have also ntfs-3g installed & my distro is lenny

This is a USB kernel problem, there is a fix for example here: http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/in...howtopic=61388

Push your distro to include the fix for the Seagate USB drives.
