I/O error, dev sda, sector 37110615
 
hi

This error message always come on my machine
when i try to type something.
Is that means that my hard disk is screwed up or what?
because of this many application is not working

Yes. Your disk (SATA or SCSI) is bad.

You may try to mark the defective blocks using "fsck -cc". You need to boot the machine in single user mode, or by a CD live if the partition with bad blocks is /boot or /.

This process may take hours to finish. I mean, dozen of hours.

And there are chances the problem is not in the disk surface itself. In this case the problem will show up again.
