Hello, I'm in a bit of a bind...I can't find a working driver for my modem. Currently I am running....

Damn Small Linux (kernel 2.4.26)

The modem in question is an ESS ALlegro winmodem. (chipset vendor)125d 1989. There currently is one driver that I found, here, but it dosen't support my kernel. I'm not pro with linux so I can't write a better driver, in fact I think it's closed source anyway.

Any help at all would be great. Really really really wanna get DSL up and running.

can you post a link to your actual specifications pls?

I am wondering if you have a soundcard ESS and something else for modem?

Note: The review platform was a common HP Pavilion 5340 laptop with a Savage S3 video card and ESS Technology ES1988 Allegro-1 sound card. The printer is an HP Deskjet 940. Wireless connection is through an SMC card; I don't remember the model number (it's on the bottom), but it's pretty standard. I also got a Linksys PCMCIA combination NIC/modem working without thought -- after watching some Quicktime trailers.
