Hpt 370

I have a motherboard with a Hpt 370 ATA 100 Raid controller on it. I want to use this motherboard for my Linux machine. Now, i am wondering if this controller is compatible with Debian based distro's like Ubuntu and what drivers i need and how to use them.

It does not matter on the distribution. It matters if the kernel is configured correctly. Just make sure the kernel is compiled with HPT370/HPT372/HPT374 support. It is in the IDE section during configure the kernel. If you configure it as a module (hpt366), you have to include it in a ramdisk file or initrd. Also the kernel have to have initrd and ramdisk as builtin or you will never get Linux to boot.
