Slackware 12.0
kernel - 2.6.21.5-smp
printer - hp psc1210
familiar .with this problem, usually if i delete the printer in KDE and go into Konsole and use "hp-setup" the Slackware or Konsole utility included usually works just fine ...
this time however, every print job goes into an error state almost immediatlely ...
the printer state is "IDLE (accepting jobs)"
there is a valid URI --- ipp://localhost:631/printers/psc_1200
the Device path is valid --- hp:/usb/psc_1200_series?serial=MY3CHG62SV5H
the foomatic device is hpijs ??
restarted the CUPS server with kill-SIGHUP 3220
still NO LUCK !!!!
if you have an idea please send it my way ,,,, thanks :_)

thanks,
live well,
david
ok ....
the only solution .... after much lost time and effort ..... is to actually "RE-LOAD YOUR DISTRO" .....
you heard me right .....
the fix is no where to be found even or should i say especially on HPs website ....
they are great, but don't try to get email support and tell their software that you are using anything other than a PC or Mac .... it will error out the web form submitted ...
anyway ....
<hp-setup> IS the key element here after re-loading your Distro ....
works first time every time ,,,,,,, well, sort of .....
its a beautiful thing when it works ......
i hope this helps someone out there with similar HP issues ....
its not a pretty fix i know ....
but it works!!!!!
