If you are trying to use hplip to print to a printer that is connected to your network via a windows computer....don't bother, it cannot currently be done!
Hplip is ONLY for printers with A DIRECT CONNECTION TO NETWORK OR CONNECTED TO LINUX BOX USB PORT!!
I actually wasted a lot of time trying to get hplip to function because when I read:
http://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/productsmf.php
and found my printer listed as having usb/network support, I took it to mean that it would support connecting to a windows shared printer. Silly me. I hope this helps you other silly people who thought the same thing.
Don't be shy about letting the developers know how great it would be if they supported this setup! The squeaky wheel gets the code. Or is it, feed a code, starve a beaver? I always get those two mixed up.
