Hello.

I have a HP Scanjet 2400 scanner. Its great for me, and I want to use it in linux. I have Debian unstable/testing with kernel *.15 almost the newest. Well, the interesting thing is, that my scanner is listed in etc/udev/libsane.rules. And its recognized by the sane-find-scanner console command. The hwinfo --usb command shows, that a HP scanner is plugged in. The Kinfocenter can see it too. But xsane does not recognises anything and scanimage -L command in console says that it cannot see any scanners, and try sane-find-scanner command. But I tried it, and that worked!!! So, I don't know what to do now. Please help, I don't wanna use Windows, if need to scan something! Windows sucks!!! I thank you now for your help.

This scanner is unsupported by SANE.
... but they're working on it: Will probably be out in the next backend tarball - coming to a Debian repository near you.

Meanwhile, I have had good results running the hp scanner software under wine...
