Hello everyone and thanks for reading.
I am a
here as well, =/
I have had Fedora Linux for just about 2 weeks and have been TRYING to learn it as fast as I can, but real life keeps me distracted (kids willing!!!
Here is my problem I am trying to work out:
I have Red Hat's Fedora Core 1 with all the latest patches...
I have an HP PSC 2510xi printer that is networked through eithernet, I have no problem setting it up via the network (networked jetdirect, PCL 3 driver).
<<<the below site is a link to the HP website that lists the printer>>>
But my problem is trying to find a way to to set up some of those other features like scanning and faxing? preferably through software on Fedora. I know I can at least scan via the printers HTML server , but I loose lots & lots of advanced features through this method (which I guess you can't have everything).
There is one software package for scanning simply called "scanning" I do not think it has any network capabilities. So is there anything else or how does this "scanning" software work for being setup. This all, plus the same for faxing if possible. I guess I am not too concerned with the hookup of the memory card readers that are built ot the front of the printer.
<<<this is sort of a side question if anyone happens to know>>>
The "scanning" software gave a waring when I started it while loaded in KDE under Root. The warning message basicly mentions that its "DANGEROUS" to use the software under rot and to "use it at your own risk". Why would this be so??? =/
Well thanks EVERYONE for this
's questions. You have my gratitude and my respect for you knowledge on Linux... Bah I know MOST windows platforms fairly well, Linux is a whole knew ball game that I am liking a whole LOT more..
